Announcing Indy’s best end-of-the-summer Party!
Grab your kaftan, slip on a pair of gold sandals, and shimmy to the Art Center to dance the night away. On August 21, the Indianapolis Art Center will be transformed into a Moroccan marketplace for its annual ArtSparkle summer gala fundraiser. The night begins at 6 p.m. for those who purchase VIP tickets while general admission ticketholders will be admitted at 7 p.m.
After entering through the “maharaja tent,” ArtSparkle guests enjoy samplings from some of the finest local restaurants and caterers, dance to a great party band and shop in the silent auction marketplaces. Co-chair of the event, Cathy Yingling, said, “ArtSparkle is my favorite party of the year. There’s always a fun band and great food, and I love the fact that it’s a little bit more relaxed than some of the other fundraisers around town – it’s the opposite of ‘stuffy.’”
ArtSparkle proceeds support the Art Center’s programs, exhibitions and seven Outreach programs. ArtReach, the Art Center’s largest Outreach program, sends professional artists to underserved neighborhoods where they provide art instruction and mentoring to youth who would not otherwise have access to the arts. Founded in the belief that art can be an agent of social change, the classes are provided to students at no charge. The Art Center must raise approximately $300,000 per year to fund ArtReach and six other Outreach programs. The proceeds from ArtSparkle represent a significant portion of the overall fundraising goal.
Entertainment
Featured performer, Henle & the Loops will begin at 9 p.m. The band is made up of doctors and lawyers who perform exclusively for deserving not-for-profits in the Indianapolis area. This dance band never accepts payment for performances.

Art
In traditional Indianapolis Art Center fashion, art will be on exhibit throughout the building and gardens. Best of Student Show award winners, select faculty and two local artists will be featured. There will also be an opportunity to purchase art and enriching experiences at the silent auction.
Moroccan themed party décor for this year’s ArtSparkle is an art in itself. ArtSparkle co-chair, Suzy Elliott, said, “I’ve been helping to plan and design ArtSparkle for the past six years. From last year’s Louisiana backwater to this year’s colorful Moroccan celebration, you’ll enjoy an enchanted summer evening of great food and crazy entertainment surrounded by the creative works of the Indianapolis Art Center. It’s definitely summer’s premier blast.”
